Training Excellence Since 1943
The West Allis Training Kennel Club (WATKC) was established in 1943 by a group of fourteen passionate men and women devoted to field dog training and the outdoors. Situated in the township of Vernon, Waukesha County, the WATKC boasts over one hundred acres of pristine training grounds, complete with ponds and channels, catering to the needs of its members.

As a privately held non-profit organization, the WATKC limits its membership to one hundred active members to maintain a high-quality training environment. The club organizes various events throughout the year, including AKC Retriever and Spaniel Hunt Tests, AKC Retriever and Spaniel Field Trials, and a Hunter's Jamboree and Trapshoot. These events are open to the public, and family participation is highly encouraged.
The club’s motto, "Conserve Game, Hunt with a Trained Dog," reflects the members' dedication to preserving the tradition of the WATKC and securing its future. It remains the only field training dog club in Wisconsin with three active dog breed divisions: Retriever, Spaniel, and Bird Dog. This diversity is foundational to the club and contributes to making the WATKC a uniquely enriching experience.

Mastering the Art of Field Training
The West Allis Training Kennel Club (WATKC) primarily recruits new members through events and recommendations from existing members, creating a dedicated community of dog training enthusiasts who value field training and game conservation.
Spanning just over one hundred acres, our training grounds feature a variety of terrains including upland cover, ponds, and channels, with designated areas for both short and long cover to cater to different breeds and training needs. Live ammunition is allowed for specific training exercises such as flushing and marking tests.
The WATKC is distinguished by its three dog divisions: retriever, spaniel, and bird dog. Training is flexible, with members choosing to work individually, in groups, or across divisions to leverage the collective expertise within the club. Membership is capped at one hundred active participants to ensure a high-quality training environment, along with a select group of Lifetime members who have shown long-term dedication.
